Abstract[English]
A radiolucent fixation system is provided for orthopedic and translational applications, comprising implantable thermoplastic plates, rods, and fasteners for stabilizing fractures or bone defects while enabling clear diagnostic imaging. The fasteners include a rigid central component and deformable malleable grip segments that are selectively welded or staked using an energy-producing handheld device. In some embodiments, blind-end rivet mechanisms are used to secure fixation where access to the distal cortex is limited. The radiolucent materials reduce imaging artifacts, enable repeated longitudinal studies in preclinical research, and avoid complications associated with metal implants such as stress shielding and imaging interference. Methods for device implantation, imaging, and fabrication using additive and subtractive manufacturing are also described.[French]
