Abstract[English]
A method to optimize an adaptive bitrate (ABR) ladder includes receiving a first rendition and a second rendition from an ABR ladder of a rendition encoded video asset, where the second rendition and the first rendition are an adjacent rendition pair. The method further includes estimating a rendition spacing ratio for the second rendition as a ratio between a bitrate of the first rendition and a bitrate of the second rendition, and optimizing the ABR ladder by removing at least one of the first rendition or the second rendition when the rendition spacing ratio is less than or equal to a rendition spacing ratio threshold.[French]
La présente invention concerne un procédé d'optimisation d'une échelle à débit binaire adaptatif (ABR) qui consiste à recevoir un premier rendu et un second rendu à partir d'une échelle ABR d'un actif vidéo codé de rendu, le second rendu et le premier rendu étant une paire de rendu adjacente. Le procédé comprend en outre l'estimation d'un rapport d'espacement de rendu pour le second rendu en tant que rapport entre un débit binaire du premier rendu et un débit binaire du second rendu, et l'optimisation de l'échelle ABR par élimination du premier rendu et/ou du second rendu lorsque le rapport d'espacement de rendu est inférieur ou égal à un seuil de rapport d'espacement de rendu.
