A poultry barn monitoring system (104) includes a rail assembly (118) and a monitoring device (108) coupled to the rail assembly (118) and configured to travel along the rail assembly (118). The monitoring device (108) includes an upper body (202) and a lower body (204) coupled to the upper body (202) via at least one connecting member (206). The lower body (204) includes a main portion (302) and an overhang portion (304) extending horizontally from the main portion (302). The overhang portion (304) includes an upper arcuate surface (306), a lower planar surface (308) oriented at an acute angle relative to a horizontal plane, and at least one camera (214) coupled to the overhang portion (304) and extending at least partially through or from the lower planar surface (308), where a center axis of a field of view of the at least one camera (214) is at least substantially normal to the lower planar surface (308).[French]
