There is provided a compact electric vehicle (100, 200, 300, 400, 500) comprising: at least set of rear wheels (102, 202, 402, 502) configured to be rotated in use by one or more electric motors; a first set of front wheels (104, 204A, 304A, 404A, 504A) and a second set of front wheels (106, 204B, 304B, 404B, 504B); a steering column (108, 208, 408, 508) with single linkage steering mechanism for manoeuvring the vehicle, wherein the steering column (108, 208, 408, 508) is moveable to switch the vehicle (100, 200, 300, 400, 500) between a first mode of operation and second mode of operation; a frame (110, 210, 410, 510) configured to connect the rear wheels (102, 202, 402, 502) and the one or more electric motors with the first set of front wheels (104, 204A, 304A, 404A, 504A), the second set of front wheels (106, 204B, 304B, 404B, 504B) and the single linkage steering mechanism; and a pivot mechanism (112, 206, 406, 506) configured to engage the first set of front wheels (104, 204A, 304A, 404A, 504A) in first mode of operation and to engage the second set of front wheels (106, 204B, 304B, 404B, 504B) in the second mode of operation.[French]
