Abstract[English]
Tantalum (Ta) is used in orthopedic and dental implants due to its mechanical properties. Coating Ta with bio-ceramic materials reduces its disadvantages. Plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) is a new method for surface modification by creating a ceramic coating on metal surfaces. In addition to improving wear and corrosion resistance, the PEO process also provides practical features such as reducing friction and heat resistance. A nano-composite of zirconia (ZrO2)/silica (SiO2)/titania (TiO2) was coated on tantalum surfaces using the PEO method. After ceramic nano-coating on tantalum surfaces, the morphology, microstructure, phase compositions, wettability, microhardness, and nano-hardness of the samples were evaluated using FESEM, XRD, contact angle measurement, hardness testing, and AFM, respectively. Nano-scale roughness (confirmed by AFM testing) increases the surface area on the substrate, enhancing mechanical adhesion between implant materials and bone. Hank's solution showed that tantalum coated with nanoceramic coating has higher corrosion resistance and biocompatibility compared to uncoated tantalum.[French]
