Methods of monitoring a commodity within a container receiving first temperature data from a hub sensor of a cable hub, receiving second temperature data from a sensor node of a cable coupled to the cable hub, comparing the first temperature data from the hub sensor to the second temperature data from the sensor node, and based at least partially on the comparison of the first temperature data to the second temperature data, determining whether the sensor node of the cable is in the commodity within the container or out of the commodity within the container. Systems include a container and a cable assembly disposed within the container. The cable assembly includes cable hubs having hub sensors and cables coupled to the cable hubs, the cables having sensor nodes operably coupled to the cables, and a commodity monitoring system in communication with the cable assembly[French]
