Abstract
[English]
The subject invention pertains to a safe and effective photosensitizer that expands the clinical use of photodynamic therapy (PDT) as a non-invasive cancer treatment. Specifically, the subject invention provides methods of using water-soluble chlorophyll protein (WSCP) as a new photosensitizer for cancer phototherapy. Advantageously, WSCP is stable, non-toxic, and biocompatible while generating reactive oxygen species, making it useful for deep-tissue PDT.
