Abstract[English]
A hollow steel structure for carrying or holding liquid petroleum. The structure has an inner surface that is coated or lined with a piezo-electric material for precluding or minimizing bacterial biofilm-based corrosion. The method entails precluding or minimizing bacterial biofilm-based corrosion of a hollow steel structure that will be exposed to a flow of liquid petroleum by applying a piezo-electric material coating on it. In addition, the method may entail subjecting the hollow structure to the application of an agent for blocking and disrupting communication between the bacterial cells in the biofilm and/or an agent for blocking exocytosis among the bacteria cells of the biofilm[French]
L'invention concerne une structure creuse en acier destinée à transporter ou à contenir du pétrole liquide. La structure a une surface interne qui est revêtue ou recouverte d'un matériau piézoélectrique pour éviter ou réduire au minimum la corrosion basée sur un biofilm bactérien. Le procédé consiste à éviter ou à réduire au minimum la corrosion basée sur un biofilm bactérien d'une structure creuse en acier qui sera soumise à un écoulement de pétrole liquide par l'application d'un revêtement de matériau piézoélectrique sur celle-ci. De plus, le procédé peut consister à soumettre la structure creuse à l'application d'un agent destiné à bloquer et à interrompre la communication entre les cellules bactériennes dans le biofilm et/ou d'un agent destiné à bloquer l'exocytose parmi les cellules bactériennes du biofilm.
