La présente invention concerne des couches d'apprêt (104) dotées de propriétés de réflectivité et d'isolation thermique améliorées et destinées à être utilisées dans des feuilles d'imagerie thermique microencapsulées (100). Des couches d'apprêt comportant un liant polymère d'environ 3 % à environ 60 % en poids par rapport au poids total de la couche d'apprêt d'une matière particulaire blanche, un substrat d'apprêt (102) et des particules particulaires creuses améliorent la réflectivité, le développement des couleurs, la densité des couleurs et l'isolation thermique de feuilles d'imagerie à microcapsules (108) les comprenant. Une couche arrière noire (105) appliquée sur le substrat sur un côté opposé à la couche d'apprêt améliore davantage la Dmax et l'Eio des feuilles d'imagerie à microcapsules et empêche l'exposition prématurée de feuilles d'imagerie à microcapsules dans des supports empilés.
