Ion optical elements in accordance with various aspects of the present teachings can, in various embodiments, be utilized to replace conventional stacked-ring ion optical elements (e.g., ion guides, ion tunnels, ion funnels, reflectrons), which typically contain a plurality of individual conductor rings and insulating spacers that must be manufactured with exacting tolerances and precisely aligned during assembly. In various aspects, methods of producing ion optical elements are also disclosed herein, which according to various aspects may reduce the cost and/or complexity associated with precisely manufacturing and assembling the many parts of conventional stacked-ring devices.[French]
