Abstract[English]
Provided is a method of treating a psychiatric disorder and/or blood pressure disorder in a subject in need thereof. The method includes implanting one or more leads into the subject, wherein each of the one or more leads comprises a plurality of electrodes; generating an electrical signal; generating an electrical field that is substantially directional and substantially focused; and delivering the electrical field to a superolateral branch in a medial forebrain bundle of the subject via at least one of the plurality of electrodes. Provided are also an implantable pulse generator configured to deliver the corresponding electrical field via respective leads and electrodes.[French]
L'invention concerne un procédé de traitement d'un trouble psychiatrique et/ou d'un trouble de la pression artérielle chez un sujet en ayant besoin. Le procédé comprend l'implantation d'un ou plusieurs conducteurs dans le sujet, chacun desdits conducteurs comprenant une pluralité d'électrodes ; la génération d'un signal électrique ; la génération d'un champ électrique qui est sensiblement directionnel et sensiblement focalisé ; et la distribution du champ électrique à une ramification superolatérale dans un faisceau médian du cerveau antérieur du sujet par l'intermédiaire d'au moins l'une de la pluralité d'électrodes. L'invention concerne également un générateur d'impulsions implantable conçu pour délivrer le champ électrique correspondant par l'intermédiaire de conducteurs et d'électrodes respectifs.
