The air conditioner (400) also includes an evaporative cooling membrane panel (100) disposed within the air flow path (408) and including a face (113) disposed at an oblique angle (409) relative to the direction. The face (113) is defined by microporous fibers (104) of the evaporative cooling membrane panel (100). Each microporous fiber (104) is configured to receive liquid (107) in a fluid flow path (112) of the microporous fiber (104) such that the air flow (115, 105) over the microporous fiber (104) generates a vapor (114).
