The specification describes complexes comprising gold and a nitrogen-containing ligand of Formula (II) or (III). The complexes may be supported on a support. Also described is a method of preparing supported complexes and a method of catalytic hydrochlorination using the complexes. The complexes are particularly suitable as catalysts for the conversion of acetylene to vinyl chloride monomer.[French]
