Die Erfindung betrifft ein Haushalts-Dampfgargerät (1), aufweisend einen mit Wasser (W) befüllbaren füllstandserkennungslosen Verdampfer (6), eine Wasserquelle (7) zum Versorgen des Verdampfers (6) mit Wasser, eine steuerbare Fördereinrichtung (8) zum Leiten von Wasser (W) von der Wasserquelle (7) in den Verdampfer (6) und eine Steuereinrichtung (10) zum Steuern der Fördereinrichtung (8) so, dass definierte Mengen von Wasser (W) von der Wasserquelle (7) in den Verdampfer (6) leitbar sind, wobei das Haushalts-Dampfgargerät (1), insbesondere die Steuereinrichtung (10), dazu eingerichtet ist, den Verdampfer (6) in einer Endphase (P3) eines Dampfgarvorgangs (P1-P3), welche mit Erreichen einer eingestellten Gardauer abzüglich einer definierten Zeitdauer zur Restwassernutzung beginnt, nicht mit Wasser zu befüllen.
