Abstract[English]
An elongated boom (10) of a heavy-lift machine is pivotably mounted at a pivot mount with the load carried by the free end (11) of the boom (10), pivoted by a primary actuator (14) connected to a drive end (15) of the boom (10). A counterbalance component (16, 30) is engaged to the boom (10) to counterbalance the weight-generated torque of the boom (10). The counterbalance component (16, 30) includes a hydraulic actuator (30) with the piston (17, 32) connected to the boom (10) and a liquid-filled cylinder (18) connected to a gas-filled accumulator (45) in a hydraulic circuit (40). The gas pressure in the accumulator (45) is adjustable by the fluid provided to the hydraulic actuator (30). The piston (17, 32) of the counterbalance component (16, 30) applies a counterbalance force to the boom (10) as a function of the pressure of the gas compressed in the accumulator (45)[French]
