The invention refers to an access control device (10) for validating access to a restricted area, comprising an authorization carrier reader (22) configured to read an authorization carrier if the authorization carrier is located in an authorization carrier reading zone, an imaging unit (24) configured to record a video image of a person (12) in front of the access device, an output unit (26) configured to output a notification to the person (12) in front of the access device, and a controller (20) configured to analyse the video image recorded by the imaging unit (24) for identifying and localizing the authorization carrier held by the person (12), determine whether the identified authorization carrier is within the authorization carrier reading zone, generate, if the authorization carrier is determined not to be within the authorization carrier reading zone, a first notification to be output by the output unit (26), the first notification providing guidance to the person (12) to move the authorization carrier to the authorization carrier reading zone, and validate the authorization carrier after the authorization carrier being read by the authorization carrier reader (22).[French]
