A gear motor, in particular for a chain feeding device, wherein: the gear motor comprises a transmission driven by an electric motor; an electromagnetically actuated brake is mounted at the end of the rotor shaft of the electric motor that is axially remote from the transmission, in particular in a direction parallel to the axis of rotation of the rotor shaft of the electric motor; and the brake is accommodated, in particular enclosed, by the housing of the electric motor.[French]
