The present disclosure relates to a tire pressure monitoring method and system. The method comprises: a determination step, which involves determining whether the tire pressure monitoring system is a direct tire pressure monitoring system or an indirect tire pressure monitoring system, performing a first monitoring step in the case of a direct tire pressure monitoring system and performing a second alarm monitoring step in the case of an indirect tire pressure monitoring system, a second alarm monitoring step is performed; the first alarm monitoring step, which involves, upon detecting a split road and a discrepancy in the wheel speeds of multiple wheels of the vehicle, lowering the pre-set tire pressure alarm threshold in the tire pressure monitoring system and issuing a tire pressure alarm if the tire pressure of any one of the multiple wheels of the vehicle is below the reduced tire pressure alarm threshold; the second alarm monitoring step, which involves, upon detecting a split road and a discrepancy in the wheel speeds of multiple wheels of the vehicle, disabling the tire pressure alarm function in the tire pressure monitoring system.[French]
