Es wird ein Verfahren (100) zum Steuern, insbesondere Fernsteuern einer Funktion eines Fahrzeugs (1) offenbart, wobei das Fahrzeug (1) zumindest eine drahtlose Kommunikationseinrichtung (3) zur Kommunikation mit einem mobilen Endgerät (2) aufweist, wobei auf dem mobilen Endgerät (2) ein digitaler Fahrzeugschlüssel (4) gespeichert ist. Bei dem Verfahren wird zunächst eine drahtlose Verbindung mit dem mobilen Endgerät (2) mittels der drahtlosen Kommunikationseinrichtung (3) hergestellt. Es wird ein Fahrzeugstatus erfasst und festgestellt, ob abhängig von dem Fahrzeugstatus eine Aktion erforderlich oder möglich ist. Bei positiver Feststellung wird ein Hinweis (5) auf dem mobilen Endgerät (2) ausgegeben, welcher auf die Aktion hinweist und über welchen eine entsprechende Funktion des Fahrzeugs (1) unter Nutzung des digitalen Fahrzeugschlüssels (4) fernsteuerbar ist.[English]
