Abstract[English] The invention relates to a processing method for reducing channels of a stereophonic signal to obtain a monophonic signal, comprising the following: - application (610, 611), to a current frame of said signal, of two (T1 or T2, T3) channel-reducing processing operations, one of the processing operations using filtering with re-phasing on at least one of the channels of the stereophonic signal and the other processing operation not using filtering with re-phasing, - selection (612) of one of said processing operations to be applied to the current frame, said selection being implemented depending on: — the presence or absence of at least one transient in the stereophonic signal, or — a quality level of the filtering of the stereophonic signal used when implementing the processing operation using filtering of the stereophonic signal. The invention also relates to a processing device for reducing channels implementing the method.[French] Traitement optimisé de réduction de canaux d'un signal audio stéréophonique L'invention se rapporte à un procédé de traitement de réduction de canaux d'un signal stéréophonique pour obtenir un signal monophonique, comprenant ce qui suit : - application (610, 611), à une trame courante dudit signal, de deux (Tl ou T2, T3) traitements de réduction de canaux, l'un des traitements utilisant un filtrage avec remise en phase sur au moins un des canaux du signal stéréophonique et l'autre traitement n'utilisant pas de filtrage avec remise en phase, - sélection (612) d'un desdits traitements à appliquer à la trame courante, ladite sélection étant mise en œuvre en fonction de : — la présence ou non d'au moins un transitoire dans le signal stéréophonique, ou — un niveau de qualité du filtrage du signal stéréophonique utilisé lors de la mise en œuvre du traitement utilisant le filtrage du signal stéréophonique.
