Die vorliegende Erfindung schafft ein Verfahren zum Betreiben einer Tankvorrichtung (1) zum Speichern eines Gastreibstoffs für ein Fahrzeug, das Verfahren umfassend die Schritte: Messen einer Temperatur des Gases im jeweiligen Tankbehälter (TB) zu einem bestimmten Zeitpunkt oder über eine bestimmte Zeit (t) während eines Betankungsvorgangs mithilfe des jeweiligen Temperatursensors; Ermitteln einer Temperaturänderung und/oder eines Temperaturgradienten anhand der gemessenen Temperatur; Ermitteln oder Bereitstellen einer erwarteten Temperaturänderung und/oder eines erwarteten Temperaturgradienten des Gases im jeweiligen Tankbehälter durch ein Temperaturmodell für den bestimmten Zeitpunkt oder für die bestimmte Zeit (t) während des Betankungsvorgangs; Vergleichen der Temperaturänderung und/oder des Temperaturgradienten mit der erwarteten Temperaturänderung und/oder mit dem erwarteten Temperaturgradienten des jeweiligen Tankbehälters (TB1, TB2, …, TBn) und daraus Plausibilisieren einer Funktionsweise des Temperatursensors.[English]
