The invention relates to a composition for colouring a substrate, comprising 10 to 70 wt.% water, 0.025 to 12.5 wt.% colourant, and 0.1 to 10 wt.% tetravalent alcohol, each relative to the total weight of the composition, wherein the tetravalent alcohol has at least carbon atoms, and the use of the composition for colouring a substrate to form a film on a substrate.[French]
