Biomass based Compositions Comprising Ethylene Glycol A method of purifying a biomass based composition comprising ethylene glycol, the method comprising: (a) subjecting the biomass based composition to at least one distillation step to provide a distillation product, wherein the concentration of ethylene glycol in the distillation product is greater than in the biomass based composition; and (b) subjecting the distillation product to at least one melt crystallisation step to form crystals and a mother liquor, such that the crystals provide a purified biomass based composition, wherein the concentration of ethylene glycol in the purified biomass based composition is greater than in the distillation product.[French]
L'invention concerne des compositions à base de biomasse comprenant de l'éthylène glycol, un procédé de purification d'une composition à base de biomasse comprenant de l'éthylène glycol, le procédé comprenant les étapes suivantes consistant à : (a) soumettre la composition à base de biomasse à au moins une étape de distillation pour obtenir un produit de distillation, la concentration d'éthylène glycol dans le produit de distillation étant supérieure à celle dans la composition à base de biomasse ; et (b) soumettre le produit de distillation à au moins une étape de cristallisation à l'état fondu pour former des cristaux et une solution mère, de telle sorte que les cristaux fournissent une composition à base de biomasse purifiée, la concentration d'éthylène glycol dans la composition à base de biomasse purifiée étant supérieure à celle dans le produit de distillation.
