Embodiments relate to a method (100) for decreasing an energy consumption of a vehicle. The method (100) comprises obtaining (110) sensor data indicative of a usage intent of a user to use the vehicle. The method (100) further comprises determining (120) a user intention, whether the user intends to use the vehicle. The user intention is determined based on sensor data. The method (100) further comprises disabling (130) an initialization of the ranging session if no usage intent of the vehicle is determined.
