A household gas stove (1), comprising a gas burner (2 – 5), a gas valve (15 – 18) for controlling a flow of combustion gas to the gas burner (2 – 5), an ignitor (31) for igniting the combustion gas at the gas burner (2 – 5), and a knob mechanism (11 – 14) for actuating the gas valve (15 – 18), wherein the knob mechanism (11 – 14) comprises a movable magnet (20) for generating a magnetic field (F) and an immovable switch (28), wherein the switch (28) is switchable from an off mode (OFF), in which the switch (28) is outside a range (r) of the magnetic field (F), into an on mode (ON), in which the switch (28) is within the range (r) of the magnetic field (F), by means of moving the magnet (20) relative to the switch (28), wherein the switch (28) activates the ignitor (31) when being switched from the off mode (OFF) into the on mode (ON).[French]
