A cartridge for handling a fluid comprises a housing comprising an impermeable shell in which at least one port (8-10) for the fluid is formed. The housing comprises a cartridge head comprising at least one of the ports (8-10). The cartridge head is arranged for coupling to a head part (6) to place those of the ports (8-10) comprised in the cartridge head in sealed fluid communication with ports (32,33) of the head part (6). The cartridge comprises a transponder (19), comprising at least a wireless transceiver (22,23) and a data processing device (22) for processing data exchanged via the wireless transceiver. The transponder (19) is arranged in at least one of a recess (14) in the shell and a recess (20) in a shielding part (17) joined to the shell.
