Abstract[English]
The present invention relates to window elements which comprise two switching layers, wherein the switching layers each comprise a liquid-crystalline medium containing one or more dichroic dyes and wherein in one of the optical states both switching layers have a twisted or supertwisted nematic configuration, wherein the handedness or helicity of the twisting of one of the two switching layers is opposite in direction with respect to the other switching layer. The invention further relates to compositions used in the window elements and to the use of the window elements for applications in buildings and vehicles with energy savings and improved comfort.[French]
La présente invention concerne des éléments de fenêtre qui comprennent deux couches de commutation, les couches de commutation comprenant chacune un milieu cristal liquide contenant un ou plusieurs colorants dichroïques et, dans l'un des états optiques, les deux couches de commutation ayant une configuration nématique torsadée ou supertorsadée, l'orientation ou l'hélicité de la torsion de l'une des deux couches de commutation étant opposée dans la direction par rapport à l'autre couche de commutation. L'invention concerne en outre des compositions utilisées dans les éléments de fenêtre et l'utilisation des éléments de fenêtre pour des applications dans des bâtiments et des véhicules avec des économies d'énergie et un confort amélioré.
