An internal combustion engine (1), specifically a spark ignition engine, comprises a spark plug (23) projecting into a prechamber (24) of a combustion chamber (21), and a fuel injector (20) which can be switched over in such a way that a variable proportion of the injected fuel reaches the prechamber (24).[French]
