Die Erfindung betrifft ein Airbagmodul (2) für einen Kraftwagen (32), mit einem einen Äufnahmeraum (7) aufweisenden Gehäuse (6), mit einem Airbag (8), welcher in einer Aufbewahrungsposition (9) in dem Aufnahmeraum (7) angeordnet ist, mit wenigstens einem zwischen einer Schließstellung (11) und einer Offenstellung (12) verschwenkbar an dem Gehäuse (6) gehaltenen Abdeckelement (13), und mit einer Öffnung (15), welche in der Offenstellung (12) von dem Abdeckelement (13) freigegeben ist, wodurch der Airbag (8) in der Offenstellung (12) aus der Aufbewahrungsposition (9) in wenigstens eine Schutzposition (17) verlagerbar ist, wobei an dem Gehäuse (6) wenigstens ein Befestigungsbereich (19) vorgesehen ist, über weichen das Airbagmodul (2) in einem durch wenigstens eine Wandung (20) einer separat von dem Airbagmodul (2) ausgebildeten Instrumententafel (4) des Kraftwagens (32) begrenzten Aufnahmebereich (3) der Instrumententafel (4) zu halten ist, und das Abdeckelement (13) wenigstens eine in Fahrzeughochrichtung (16) des Kraftwagens (32) nach oben gewandte Außenseite (22) aufweist.[English]
