Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zum Schließen einer Heckklappe (2), welche für das Schließen von einer Offenstellung in eine Schließstellung verlagert wird, eines Kraftfahrzeugs (1), wobei mit einer ersten Sensoreinrichtung (3), welche für das Erkennen einer Schließgeste eines Benutzers (4) ausgebildet ist, eine Bewegung des Benutzers in einer Umgebung (5) der Heckklappe (2) erfasst wird und durch eine Steuereinheit (6) ermittelt wird, dass es sich bei der erfassten Bewegung um die Schließgeste handelt und anhand eines Verifikationssignals einer zweiten Sensoreinrichtung (7) durch die Steuereinheit (6) überprüft wird, ob die anhand der Bewegung ermittelte Schließgeste einer Benutzeranweisung entspricht und in Abhängigkeit von der Benutzeranweisung die Heckklappe (2) geschlossen wird.
