Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zum Betreiben eines Ventiltriebs einer Brennkraftmaschine mit mindestens einem Zylinder, welchem jeweils je mindestens ein Gaswechseleinlassventil und je mindestens ein Gaswechselauslassventil zugeordnet sind, wobei mit Vorliegen einer Anforderung zum Abschalten des mindestens einen Zylinders eine zugehörige Zylinderabschaltfunktion aktiviert wird, im Rahmen von welcher sowohl Hübe des je mindestens einen Gaswechseleinlassventils, als auch des je mindestens einen Gaswechselauslassventils unterbleiben, wozu eine Schaltung in einer jeweiligen hydraulischen Steuerung des mindestens einen Zylinders durchgeführt wird, wobei mit Vorliegen der Anforderung zunächst überprüft wird, ob ein Kriterium hinsichtlich eines Zustands der jeweiligen hydraulischen Steuerung erfüllt ist, und wobei bei Vorliegen des Kriteriums zur Durchführung der zugehörigen Zylinderabschaltfunktion mehrere Schaltungen in der jeweiligen hydraulischen Steuerung vorgenommen werden und zu Beginn dabei zumindest eine Schaltung modifiziert gestaltet wird, in Folge von welcher Hübe des je mindestens einen Gaswechselauslassventils zuerst unterbleiben.[English]
