Abstract[English] Embodiments of the invention relate to a transmitter device (100) in a communication system (500) for multi-modal concurrent transmission of a first data stream and a second data stream to a receiver device (300). The transmitter device (100) modulates and codes the first data stream and the second data stream separately to obtain first coded and modulated symbols and second coded and modulated symbols, respectively, which are then mapped onto common time-and frequency resources to obtain jointly mapped coded and modulated symbols. The common time-and frequency resources are arranged in spatial layers, each spatial layer being associated with a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) value and at least two spatial layers are associated with different SNR values. The transmitter device (100) transmits the jointly mapped coded and modulated symbols to the receiver device (300).
