Abstract[English]
There is provided a method and apparatus for remote differential compression (RDC) and data deduplication. According to embodiments, when a sending device acquires a new target file, the following steps are performed. Initially, Jaccard segmentation is performed, followed by performing identity-based segment deduplication and similarity-based segment deduplication. The transmission of the target file in the deduplicated form to the recipient device is subsequently performed. The recipient device can then rebuild the original target file from the deduplicated form thus replicating the target file at the recipient device with the target file originally present at the sending device.[French]
L'invention concerne un procédé et un appareil de compression différentielle à distance (RDC) et de déduplication de données. Selon des modes de réalisation, lorsqu'un dispositif d'envoi acquiert un nouveau fichier cible, les étapes suivantes sont effectuées. Initialement, une segmentation de Jaccard est réalisée, suivie par la réalisation d'une déduplication de segments basée sur l'identité et d'une déduplication de segments basée sur la similitude. La transmission du fichier cible dans la forme dédupliquée vers le dispositif récepteur est ensuite effectuée. Le dispositif récepteur peut ensuite reconstruire le fichier cible d'origine à partir de la forme dédupliquée, reproduisant ainsi le fichier cible au niveau du dispositif récepteur avec le fichier cible présent à l'origine au niveau du dispositif d'envoi.
