Abstract[English]
A bowel movement detection and alerting system including a sensing device attached to an absorbent article for alerting a caregiver to the presence of solid waste by analyzing the gasses expelled in the absorbent article during a bowel movement. The system comprises an elongated pipe made of a flexible material and attached to the absorbent article. The pipe is connected to a gas sensor disposed in a pod device that detects a presence of hydrogen sulfide gas to determine an occurrence of a bowel movement or defecation in the absorbent article.[French]
La présente invention concerne un système de détection du transit intestinal et d'alerte comprenant un dispositif de détection fixé à un article absorbant pour alerter un soignant de la présence de matières solides par l'analyse des gaz expulsés dans l'article absorbant au cours du transit intestinal. Le système comprend un tuyau allongé constitué d'un matériau souple et fixé à l'article absorbant. Le tuyau est relié à un capteur de gaz disposé dans un dispositif de capsule qui détecte la présence de sulfure d'hydrogène afin de déterminer la présence d'un transit intestinal ou d'une défécation dans l'article absorbant.
