Multiple-class applications are not possible. A separate application has to be filed for each class.

Filing requirements in Saudi Arabia
Official language of the proceedings before the Saudi trademark office is Arabic.
For obtainment of the filing date, a Saudi trademark application should contain:
- a request for registration;
- representation of a trademark;
- a list of goods and services for which the protection is sought.
A certified copy of the Priority Document and its Arabic translation should be submitted within 6 months from the filing date.
An applicant may file a copy of an apostilled Power of Attorney simultaneously with the application and submit an original later.

Publication, opposition and examination of a trademark application in Saudi Arabia
Examination is conducted as to compliance with formal and substantive requirements. Besides, the Saudi Trademark Office carries out search for prior trademarks. The application is then published for oppositions, which may be filed within 60 days from the date of publication.

Grant, validity term and trademark renewal
Grant fee is to be paid within 30 days from the end of the publication period. Saudi trademarks are valid 9 years and 8 months (10 Hijra years) from the filing date. A trademark owner may file a renewal request within the last year of the protection period. Late renewal is possible within a six-month grace period after the expiration of the protection term.

Duration of registration procedure
Approximate time from filing up to grant is 3-5 months in case no oppositions have been filed and 12 months with oppositions.
Trademark registration may be cancelled if a trademark is not used within 5 years from the registration date.

Representation by a trademark attorney
For foreign applicants, it is necessary to perform trademark registration through a local trademark attorney.
