Multiple-class applications are not possible in Kuwait. A separate application must be filed for each class.

Filing requirements in Kuwait
The official language of the proceedings before the Kuwaiti Patent Office is Arabic.
For filing of a trademark application in Kuwait, it is necessary to provide the patent office with the following:
- applicant’s details and nationality;
- representation of a trademark;
- the list of goods and/or services (compliant with the Nice Classification 10th edition);
- a copy of the extract from the commercial register or certificate of incorporation (if a legal entity).
The original of the Power of Attorney legalised up to the Kuwaiti Consulate must be submitted along with the application.
A scanned copy of the certified Priority Document legalised up to the Kuwaiti Consulate must be submitted along with the application.

Publication, opposition and examination of a trademark application in Kuwait
Trademark applications in Kuwait are examined as to compliance with formal requirements and with absolute and relative grounds for refusal. Upon acceptance, the trademark proceeds to publication on the official website once the requisite publication fees are paid. Following publication, there is a 60-day period from the last publication in the Official Gazette during which interested parties may file opposition. In the absence of opposition, the associated official registration fees will be paid, and the relevant certificate of registration will be issued.

Grant, validity term and trademark renewal
Official fees for grant must be paid within 30 days from the issuance of the Notice of Allowance. Trademarks in Kuwait are valid for 10 years from the filing date and can be renewed indefinitely for successive 10-year periods. Renewal of a trademark must be requested within the last year of the current 10-year validity period. Late payment is possible within 6 months after the expiration of the validity term, a surcharge applies.

Approximate time from filing of an application up to registration is 10-12 months.
Trademark registration in Kuwait may be subject to cancellation if the trademark has not been used for 5 years from the filing date.
