Multiple design application
Multiple design applications (up to 20 designs) are permitted in Macedonia on the condition that all designs belong to the same class of the international classification and there is a similarity between them.

Filing requirements in Macedonia
For obtainment of a filing date, a Macedonian industrial design application must contain:
- request to register a design;
- applicant’s details;
- representation of the design.
An original of a signed Power of Attorney is required and may be submitted at the time of filing or within one month from the filing date.
A certified copy of the Priority Document should be submitted to the Macedonian IP Office within three months from the filing date.
A Macedonian design application claiming priority should be filed with the Macedonian IP Office within six months of the priority date.

Examination of a design application in Macedonia
Design applications in Macedonia are subject to formal examination only.
The novelty grace period of an industrial design in Macedonia constitutes twelve months before the filing date or the priority date if the design was disclosed:
- by a third party under clear or assumed conditions of secrecy;
- by the designer, his legal successor or a third party on the basis of information or activities undertaken by them.
Besides, if the design has been exhibited at an officially acknowledged international exhibition or fair in the Republic of Macedonia or in other member states of the Paris Union or WTO, a novelty grace period of three months applies.

Grant, validity term and design renewal fees
The grant fee should be paid within thirty days of the notification by the Macedonian IP Office and includes fee for the issuance of a document, publication fee and maintenance fees for the first five years. The validity of a design registration is five years from the date of filing and it may be subsequently extended for further five-year periods up to the total term of 25 years. Further renewal fees should be paid within the last year of protection periods or within a grace period of six months together with the payment of a corresponding surcharge.
