Norway: Patents and EP validations - Changes to legislation

As of January 1, 2015, the Norwegian Industrial Property Office accepts national and PCT national phase applications in English. The only requirement is to submit the translation of a patent claims into Norwegian before issuance of a patent.

For validation of the European Patents in Norway new language requirements also apply. If the European Patent (EP) has been granted in English it is required to submit the translation of the patent claims into Norwegian. If the EP has been granted in French or German the translation of the description into Norwegian or English must be provided, in addition to the translation of claims into Norwegian. 

For European Patents granted after January 1, 2015, new official fee for validation of a European Patents applies.
