As of October 1st, the costs of Intellectual Property protection in Morocco are increased. This includes an increase in the official fees associated with the filing and renewal of trademarks as well as the filing and annuity maintenance of patents and industrial designs.
The official fee for filing a trademark in once class has increased to MAD1800 and MAD180 for each additional class. The costs for the filing and renewal of an industrial design are now MAD720. Most notably, the fees associated with the filing and annuity maintenance of patents have increased the most with some fees increasing by approximately 120% since 2016.
Applicants should take advantage of the significantly cheaper costs (by up to 50%) that can be obtained by filing an application in Morocco online.
