Minimum filing requirements in Slovenia
A trademark application in Slovenia should contain a request for the registration, a list of the goods or services for which the protection is sought and representation of the trademark.

Requirements to the Power of Attorney
An electronic form of the Power of Attorney shall be submitted at the date of filing or within three months from filing the trademark application in Slovenia.
To confirm the priority right, it is necessary to provide the trademark office with information regarding country and number of priority application within three months from the filing date. The certified copy of the priority document as well as its Slovene translation should be filed to the office following the trademark office request.
Opposition period in Slovenia lasts three months from the publication of a trademark application.

Grant, validity term and trademark renewal
The registration fee which includes the maintenance fee for the first ten years should be paid within three months from the date of the invitation. The validity term of a trademark in Slovenia is ten years from the date of filing of the application. The term of a mark may be renewed for consecutive periods of ten years. The renewal fees can be paid during the last year of trademark protection period or up to six months after the expiration date by paying the extra fee.

Representation by a trademark attorney
For foreigners, it is necessary to perform the trademark prosecution in Slovenia through an agent, the registered Slovenian trademark attorney.
1. Online Search databases: Slovenian Trademarks, EU Trademarks, International Trademarks.
2. The trademark protection in Slovenia may also be obtained via registration of a European Union Trademark.
3. The time limit for filing of a response to a provisional refusal of an international registration is up to three months starting on the date of the refusal’s issuance by the Office. It is possible to request an extension of the three-month term. For foreign applicants, it is necessary to appoint a local representative for filing of the response and for requesting an extension of time. The Office does not provide for requesting a revision or filing an appeal to the provisional refusal.
