• Translation into Italian

The translation of the European patent specification into Italian has to be submitted within three months from the publication regarding the grant of the European patent.

• Validation fees

The fees associated with validation of European patent in Italy are available in the fee calculator.

• Maintenance fees

Annual fees are due each year starting from the 5th one and should be paid before the expiry of the last day of the month in which occurs the anniversary of the European patent filing date.

• Representation by a patent attorney

For foreigners residing outside Italy it is recommended to perform the patent validation through an agent: a registered Italian patent attorney or a lawyer.
