TMclass & DesignView: new members
On October 24, 2016, the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) joined TMclass. TMclass is an online service giving the possibility to classify goods and/or services according to the Nice Classification, search for and translate terms from and into 42 languages within the databases of the member states. The number of TMclass members has, therefore, increased to 62.
Being an ASEAN member, the IPOPHL is already a part of ASEAN TMclass established by IP Offices of ASEAN countries within the joint EU-ASEAN Project on the Protection of Intellectual Property Rights with the EUIPO being an implementing agency.
On October 31, 2016, the database of another EUIPO search tool, DesignView, was also extended. The African Regional Intellectual Property Organization (ARIPO) deposited its industrial design data to DesignView, thus, becoming the 52nd office to join the service. Currently, DesignView provides access to information on over 10.1 million designs all over the world.
