Abstract[English] The known clipless pedals and cleats are bulky and have complex mechanisms for cleat-pedal engagement, resulting in bad aerodynamics, heavy assemblies, and the need for regular maintenance. The present invention is a compact mechanism with a reduced number of components for connecting a pedal to a cycling shoe, including a means for quick disengagement, allowing a lightweight solution and a low, aerodynamically favourable profile without need for regular maintenance. The new pedal and the new cleat connect when the cleat is pressed down into a snap lock mechanism. The snap lock mechanism is provided by a cantilever type flexible region in the pedal body. The new pedal and the new cleat disconnect when the shoe is rotated.
