Saudi Arabia: increase in trademark publication fees

On February 9, 2017, the Saudi Trademark Office announced the upcoming increase in trademark publication fees for recordals which would enter into force on February 19, 2017.

The fees are increased by up to 200%. The revised fees will not apply retroactively, i.e. only to the recordals filed after their entry into force. Thus, the fees for publication of assignment or merger, change of name and/or address, change of a representative, limitation of the list of goods and services, and amendment of a trademark will constitute 1500 SAR (400 USD). In the meantime, publication of a license agreement or cancellation thereof will cost 2000 SAR (534 USD) while the fees for publication of a mortgage agreement or cancellation thereof and cancellation of the registration by the owner will constitute 3000 SAR (800 USD).
