Minimum filing requirements in Moldova
To obtain a filing date, an industrial design application should contain:
- a request to grant a patent containing information about the applicant(s);
- pictures of the industrial design.

Multiple design applications
Filing multiple design applications (up to 100) is possible in Moldova.
A document confirming the legitimacy of the priority claim together with its translation into the Romanian language should be submitted within three months from the filing date of the design application.

Power of Attorney requirements
A simply signed Power of Attorney is required in case the applicant is a natural person, while for legal entities it should be signed and stamped. The PoA should be provided simultaneously with filing or within three months from the filing date.

Examination of a design application in Moldova
Substantive examination of an industrial design application in Moldova should be requested simultaneously with the filing of the application.
The disclosure of information about an industrial design by the author is not taken into account if it occurred within 12 months prior to the date of filing of the application or, if priority is claimed, prior to the date of priority.
The official fees for granting must be paid within three months from the date of receipt of Notice of Allowance. A registered industrial design shall be protected for five years counting from the filing date of the application. The validity of a registration certificate may be extended 4 times each time for 5 years, up to a maximum validity term of 25 years starting from the filing date of the application.

For foreigners, it is obligatory to perform the patent prosecution in Moldova through an agent, a registered Moldovan patent attorney.
The appearance of a product or its part, in particular, created from lines, contours, colours, shapes, texture and/or material of the product and/or its ornaments can be protected as an industrial design in Moldova.
