The present invention relates to a novel compound of (S)-2-((Z)-((R)-4-propyldihydrofuran-2(3H)-ylidene) amino) butanamide and an improved, commercially viable process for preparation of Brivaracetam using (S)-2-((Z)-((R)-4-propyldihydrofuran-2(3H)-ylidene) amino) butanamide.[French]
