L'invention concerne un procédé de génération d'un retour d'informations sur la chaussée d'un système de direction à commande électronique (steer-by-wire) pour un conducteur de véhicule, le retour d'informations sur la chaussée s'effectuant par un couple de rétroaction exercé sur un organe de direction par un actionneur de volant, le procédé comprenant les étapes consistant à : détecter un couple manuel de conducteur appliqué sur l'organe de direction ; générer le couple de rétroaction en fonction du couple manuel de conducteur détecté.
