Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft eine Optik (1) für eine Handfeuerwaffe (100), wobei die Optik (1) ein Gehäuse (2) und ein wenigstens teilweise in dem Gehäuse (2) angeordnetes, wenigstens ein Okular (4) und ein Objektiv (5) aufweisendes, Linsensystem (3) aufweist, wobei eine Strecke (S) zwischen dem Okular (4) und dem Objektiv (5) einen Abschnitt einer ersten Raumrichtung (X) bildet, entlang der die Optik ausgebildet ist und zu der lotrecht eine zweite Raumrichtung (Y) und eine dritte Raumrichtung (Z) durch die der geometrische Raum für die Optik definiert ist, wobei das Gehäuse (2) ein Gehäusegewicht (GG) und die Optik (1) ein Optikgesamtgewicht (OG) aufweist. Um die Stabilität und/oder den Erhalt der Zuverlässigkeit und Einsatzfähigkeit einer Optik für eine Handfeuerwaffe zu erhöhen wird vorgeschlagen, dass das Gehäusegewicht (GG) zwischen 33% und 66%, vorzugsweise zwischen 37,5% und 57,5%, ganz vorzugsweise zwischen 39,5% und 47,5% des Optikgesamtgewichts (OG) beträgt.
