Abstract[English]
The present invention introduces a Robotic Network Interface Card (NIC) device designed to facilitate efficient and reliable communication between robotic components over a shared network. The Robotic NIC directly implements software abstractions and networking protocols in hardware, which enables faster, more deterministic communication with higher throughput and reduced energy consumption. This specialized hardware design is compatible with popular robotic operating systems, such as the Robot Operating System 2 (ROS 2), and supports a wide range of network topologies and communication architectures. By offloading communication tasks from the host's central processing unit (CPU) and providing advanced Quality of Service (QoS) features, the Robotic NIC enhances the performance and scalability of robotic systems and empowers faster, more predictable and deterministic network interactions with higher throughput and reduced energy consumption.[French]
