The invention relates to a reinforcing element (10) which is designed to be inserted into a sill cavity (27) of a body shell (30) of a vehicle. The reinforcing element (10) has a reinforcing profile (12), at least one sliding element (14) which bears at least partially in a form-fitting manner against the reinforcing profile (12), and at least one connecting element (16) which is arranged on a longitudinal side of the reinforcing profile (12). The sliding element (14) is designed to guide the insertion of the reinforcing element (10) into the sill cavity (27).
